Nur die eigentlichen Scripte unter /etc/init.d/ solltest du nicht löschen

vielen Dank für die ersten Tipps. Aber jetzt hat sich mein Problem noch verschärft. Ein Disable war in der Cups-Configurationsdatei unter init.d nicht gesetzt. Allerdings habe ich festgestellt, dass der Server nicht automatisch gestartet wird. Deshalb habe ich im Runlevel Editor eingestellt, dass Cups automatisch im Level 3 und 5 gestartet werden soll. Das war nicht schlau, glaube ich. :oops: Denn jetzt hängt sich das System schon beim Einrichten der Dienste unter KDE mit einem Kernel Panic auf.

Den Bootmeldungen zufolge läuft soweit alles normal, auch der Cups-Dämon Cupsd wird anstandslos gestartet. Sobald jedoch der Cups-Server initialisiert wird, ist Schluss.

Wie kann ich denn jetzt erst einmal wieder verhindern, dass der Cups-Server im Runlevel 3 und 5 automatisch gestartet wird?

bei der Installation der SuSE 8.2-Distribution hängt sich mein System immer bei der Konfiguration des Cups-Servers auf. Drucker (OKI Page 6ex) wird zwar immer noch erkannt, doch bei der Initialisierung des Servers ist Schluss - hiflt nur noch Reset.

Auch bei der nachträglichen Konfiguration über Kups ist beim Initialisieren Schluss. :cry:

Was kann ich tun, um überhaupt erst einmal zur Konfiguration vorzudringen?
